a metric ton is a mass and US gallons is a volume.  I would need to know how much volume makes up a tonne of jatropha oil to convert to us gallons.

The guy above was close, but not perfect, so I thought I would correct it... Jatropha Oil is a Castrol Oil which has a Specific Gravity of 0.96 @ 68F.  So the conversion goes as such...1 liter = 0.2641721 gallon [US, liquid]0.96 / 0.2641721 = 3.63399465727 kilograms/gallon1000 M/T / 3.63399465727 kgs/gallon = 275.179 Gallons per M/TTypical yeilds of Jatropha Curcas is about 300 US gallons per acre, but this greatly varies depending on the length of the summer, nutrients available, and the female/male plant ratio.  One must keep in mind when talking about Jatropha Curcus yields that only its female plants produce fruit and it requires biotic pollination.  Meaning, it is not a self pollinator species, so without enough bee's to pollinate, the yields will also be substantually lower....
